    MY SUMMER IS FINALLY SET.

  3. I just want to take a minute to acknowledge that my blog has been 80% baby animals lately. Normally it’s about 20-30% but finals saw a huge increase in that and now I’m just really tired and have a lot of feelings so the animals will be sticking around for a while.

I am sorry followers, my usual quality programming will return eventually. Promise!

Rescued pup with cleft palate becomes Internet sensation

People who know me may know that I have a special place in my heart for French bulldogs.  Please meet Lentil, the little French bulldog puppy with a cleft palate, whose big heart and will to survive have inspired help from all over the internet to raise funds for the surgeries he needs to be able to keep on being a healthy, playful puppy.  Lentil and his foster mom recently spent time with some of the patients from CHOP (Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia) at a fun salon outing, where the kids from CHOP shared their stories to help prepare Lentil and his foster mom for his surgeries, and gave Lentil lots of fun and love.

If you live in the Philadelphia area, consider checking out some of the fun Lentilfest events this weekend, from tonight (Thursday, May 2nd) to Sunday, May 5th, and help support several great causes!

    tony….?

LENTIIILLLLL last time I saw you you were so tiny no one was sure if you would live. I’m so happy to see you’re alive!!!!’

  14. While every disabled person will have their own take on this for themselves, i am not “differently abled” and i kindly ask that you not insist on calling me that. It may seem like a trivial thing, but it’s not.

When you call me “differently abled” (in most cases this is regarding your perceptions and interpretations of my body), you are obscuring (however intentional or not) the reality that what is actually going on is in part just an ableist social construction made architectural: some people are actively ENabled to be part of their communities/ neighbourhoods/ spaces/ etc, and some of us are actively DISabled from doing so specifically because in general those who are ENabled to do so are the ones making the decisions about how and when and where the constructed environment is created and DISabled folks just have to suck it up because, yknow, ableism.
